Enfield Re-Use Centre Opens

Come and visit us to view our range of quality re-used furniture,
appliances and household items at fantastic prices!

London Re-use Network is opening its first re-use ‘pop-up centre’ in Enfield on 17th March.
The new centre will be located in Units E4 to 6, Harbert Road, Stonehill Business Park, Edmonton, N18 3QP and will sell: re-used furniture, beds, cookers, fridges, TVs, computers, bikes, small electrical items, paint and children’s play equipment at fantastic prices. This unique venture highlights the versatility of re-use centres for residents in the North London area and allows the London Re-use Network to adapt to the needs of consumers looking for a bargain.

The London Re-use Network is working alongside local re-use charities including: ReStore,
Bright Sparks, Bikeworks & the Forest Recycling Project to provide Enfield residents with
access to a variety of affordable household items which have been checked for quality and
safety. New stock will be delivered daily and people are welcome to spend time browsing the
centre to find a bargain. The money generated through the sale of items will help to pay for
the service provided.

Enfield Re-use Centre has been refurbished using the help and support of local volunteers
and paint, which has been donated for re-use! A key focus for the London Re-use Network
is to help create sustainable local employment, which is supported by training and skills
development. A full time member of staff has been recruited to run the centre with support
along with help from local volunteers. In addition to this, we are planning to set up repair
workshops at a separate location on the business park where items can be repaired and
refurbished then sold through the Enfield Re-use Centre, creating even more training and
skills development opportunities.

Charles Craft, Managing Director of London Re-use Network said “The pop up shops are an
ideal way of giving local residents access to furniture, appliances and household appliances
at affordable prices. Re-using items not only reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill but
also helps us provide local employment and training opportunities for Londoners.

Local residents will be pleasantly surprised at the range and quality of items available and
as an added bonus we’re also giving people an extra 10% off items they purchase until the
end of March. If successful, we’d like to roll out more centres across London as the Re-use
Network grows”.

The new centre has also received support from Clyde Loakes, Chair of North London Waste
Authority (NLWA) and London Waste & Recycling Board Member who said “The new Enfield
Re-use Centre is a welcomed addition to the London Re-use Network. This new centre
will not only divert perfectly reusable furniture and other items from costly disposal, but it
will enable people to take advantage of affordable re-used goods. An added benefit of the
new Enfield Re-use Centre is the job creation and training opportunities it will generate.

The centre employs one full-time member of staff at the moment which is supported by
volunteers. If the project proves to be successful, additional full time staff would need to
be taken on. Along with this, the planned repair workshops will provide skill and training
opportunities which will ultimately help people get jobs in the longer term.”
